She never put it down.
Kate Kilpatrick grew up knowing she was meant to make things. At ten years old, oil painting found her — and something clicked that hasn't unclicked since. That early obsession turned into a Fine Arts degree from Westminster College in 1994, and decades of creating art alongside a life that kept pulling her in other directions.
Then, at 40, she stopped waiting.

A workshop in Helper changed everything.
After a transformative workshop in Helper, Utah, Kate knew she'd found her place. She went on to study under David Dornan — a master artist and University of Utah professor — in a rigorous internship that sharpened everything she'd carried since childhood.
In 2012, she opened her studio and gallery on Main Street in Helper. The town is small, gritty, and real — a former coal mining community that never lost its soul. It suits her work perfectly.
